Company
Origin
Dr. Raj Shah and Dr. Luke Higgins — both interventional radiologists — kept encountering the same thing: patients arriving with advanced peripheral arterial disease whose earlier imaging, taken for something else entirely, had already contained the signs.
They began developing computer-vision models to detect vascular markers in that existing imaging. Dr. Amin Katouzian joined to scale the AI infrastructure and carry the work through regulatory readiness.
The mission has not changed since: enable earlier intervention, before disease becomes irreversible. That means detecting PAD markers before symptoms appear, reducing adverse cardiovascular events, and delivering insight that is actionable without disrupting the radiology workflow it arrives in.
Milestones
Leadership

Raj Shah, MD, MBA
Chief Executive Officer
Interventional radiologist. Co-founded GuideAI after seeing early PAD repeatedly pass through routine imaging unread.
Dr. Raj Shah is a physician-executive and operator focused on building and scaling healthcare technology platforms. As CEO of GuideAI Health, he leads the company’s strategy, commercialization, and execution as it brings Elevate—a clinical workflow platform that transforms imaging insights into coordinated patient care—to market.
With training in both medicine and business, Dr. Shah has experience across clinical operations, digital health, and care delivery innovation. He has led initiatives that integrate technology into real-world clinical workflows, with a focus on driving adoption, improving outcomes, and aligning with sustainable revenue models.
At GuideAI, he is responsible for productization, health system partnerships, regulatory strategy, and go-to-market execution. He works closely with clinical, engineering, and industry partners to build a scalable platform that enables earlier disease detection, standardized reporting, and efficient care coordination across large patient populations.

Luke Higgins, MD, PhD
Chief Medical & Operating Officer
Co-founder. Owns clinical strategy, evidence generation and operating execution.
Dr. Luke Higgins is a physician-scientist and interventional radiologist who has built his career at the intersection of clinical medicine, innovation, and system-level change. Across training at MIT, Johns Hopkins, and Stanford, and clinical practice within leading health systems, he repeatedly encountered a fundamental problem: modern healthcare excels at detecting disease—but fails to act on it.
He founded GuideAI Health to solve that gap.
As the originator of the Elevate platform and the “hospital engine” concept, Dr. Higgins is leading the development of a new category of healthcare infrastructure—one that transforms imaging findings into coordinated, longitudinal care pathways for patients with chronic PAD. His work is grounded in both scientific rigor, with publications in Nature, and real-world clinical insight from treating complex PAD across diverse care settings.
Dr. Higgins’ vision is to move healthcare from reactive intervention to proactive disease management—unlocking the full value of AI in medicine by ensuring that every detected disease leads to meaningful clinical action.

Amin Katouzian, PhD
Chief Technology Officer
Joined to scale the AI infrastructure and carry the platform through regulatory readiness.
Dr. Amin Katouzian is an AI scientist and technical leader specializing in machine learning and medical imaging. At GuideAI Health, he has led the development of core algorithms for PAD detection, including early work on PAD models and occlusion detection.
Dr. Katouzian previously held roles at IBM Watson Health, where he worked on applying artificial intelligence to complex healthcare datasets and clinical use cases. His expertise spans computer vision, deep learning, and the development of AI systems for medical applications.
At GuideAI, his work has focused on building and validating disease detection models, including contributions toward early regulatory efforts such as FDA clearance for occlusion detection. He has been instrumental in establishing the company’s foundational AI capabilities and technical infrastructure for imaging-based analysis.
His role centers on advancing GuideAI’s AI research and development efforts, including model design, training pipelines, and performance optimization, as the company continues to expand its capabilities in imaging-based disease detection.
